Dealing with Loss

As a congregation, we have suffered many losses over the last few years. We have had to be strong and pray for and with each other. When we lose loved ones, our lives change dramatically and we wonder what God’s purpose is for it all. Through all of the sorrow and insecurity that we may feel, there are some verses which can bring us comfort.

Revelation 21:1-4

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

What stands out here is that no matter what our situation is here on earth, God will wipe away our tears when we get to heaven. I don’t know how He will make everything fine, but I have faith that He will. Let’s keep loving, encouraging and praying for each other while we endure this life, and look forward to the time when God will make everything well with our souls.
