Does Your Heart Ever Break?

Have you ever considered how much Paul shared his heart with us, as readers of the New Testament? He was not some cold, heartless, callous machine of a Christian, who had no emotions in his service to the Lord. Just the opposite. Consider a couple examples.

When Paul thought about his lost friends, he said, “I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart” (Rom. 9:2). When Paul wrote to the church about withdrawing fellowship, he said, “Out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you, with many tears” (2 Cor. 2:4).

When you think about your lost friends or family members, is your heart “grieved” like Paul’s? When you think about members of the church who have wandered away from the truth, is your heart full of much “anguish”? Our hearts should break over those who are lost, which hopefully will motivate us (driven by deep emotion of heart) to seek to draw them to the Lord! Does your heart ever break, to the point of action? If not, why not?
