Are you searching for answers to your tough Bible questions?

In Acts 8:30, a disciple named Philip came across a man in a chariot reading from Isaiah 53. When he heard him reading out loud to himself, Philip asked a simple question:

“Do you understand what you are reading?”

It’s an honest question, and one that we all can ask of ourselves from time to time. Whenever we come across a difficult section in Scripture, we ask ourselves, “What’s going on here?”

Perhaps it makes us zoom out a bit and ask even bigger question: “What am I doing here?’

It’s questions like that we should be able to answer, even if we have to ask others for help. Our eternal soul rests on those types of answers.

On November 2-5, 2023, the Santa Clara church of Christ presented a series of lessons geared around some of these questions. Check out the videos below to hear the answers!

Has the Bible Been Corrupted?

Has the Bible been changed? Has the Bible been rewritten? Has the Bible been tampered with?

Opponents of Scripture will often charge that the Bible is incomplete — or, even worse, that it’s been manipulated in some way so as to gain control by a select few.

In this lesson, Matt dives into some of these charges and provides answers that are worth thinking about.

Why Does God Allow Suffering?

One of the strongest arguments that people make for why they don’t want to believe in God is because of His apparent lack of ability to alleviate suffering.

After all, if He was really all powerful, why does God allow cancer? Why does God allow the Devil to exist? Why does God let us suffer in so many ways?

There are Bible answers to these questions, if we have the courage to answer them honestly.

Does Science Disprove the Bible?

The idea that science and Christianity can’t coexist is misguided at best, and dishonest at worst. Not only can they work together in perfect harmony, but in this lesson, the argument goes that they should be taken in concert.

How could that be possible?

Are Miracles Trustworthy?

Miracles are usually seen as either unreliable or too sensational to be trustworthy.

In the first century though, they were viewed as absolutely authoritative. They affirmed that the message people heard came from a Deity (i.e. God) that could perform them.

Several centuries removed, how can we view them in a similar light?

What Was Jesus Like?

Ever since He walked this earth, people have wondered what Jesus really looked like. What was His personality like? What was the world like that He lived in?

This isn’t just a thought question. If we’re able to reconstruct the Jesus of the Bible through His teachings, miracles, and eyewitness accounts, then it’ll help us to be more like Him.

As Christians, that is what we want, right?
