Relevant

One of the great evidences, that the Bible is the word of God, is that it’s a relevant, pertinent, fitting message to the needs of mankind. I say needs, because our wants and desires are different from our needs, much of the time. The Bible is fresh, alive, and powerful, Heb.4:12, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” It’s truth will only be understood and appreciated by those who are honestly seeking truth and righteousness, “At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.” Matt.11:25. Many people say the don’t get anything out of the Bible, maybe it’s because they don’t put anything into the study of it! Some people say the Bible is “dry,” maybe they need to do what one fellow said, “wet it down with a few tears.”
God has not changed, man has not basically changed, the word of God has not changed, thus the relevancy of the word of God is the same for every generation and every race of people. As Solomon said “there is no new thing under the sun,” Eccl.1:9.
We ought to be, encouraged the more, to study and meditate upon the word of God. The practical everyday usefulness of the Bible, and it’s speaking to our needs, should entice us to study the word of God. The relevancy of the scriptures ought to encourage us to teach it to our neighbors and friends. They could use it’s same vital message as we can. Jesus ever used the word for himself and in his teaching, can we do any less?
